ANNUAL JURIED
EXHIBITION

Published sculpture chosen as the Entrance Piece to a juried exhibit of student work for the year from the Art Faculty at Western University. Max Spade's team sculpture was chosen to greet guests. The class was asked to create sculptures inspired by a Cabinet of Curiosities, everyone's sculpture has to incorporate 2-3 different themes from the collection of oddities. The next lesson was to create a single sculpture with 5 ceramic pieces student's were randomly assigned and create a single sculpture that ties them all together. Max decided that the team could design a cross, use the podiums from the cross to display each sculpture, and use the each piece to describe the multiple ways to perceive faith. South cardinal is to reject faith, North is the purest form with the white veil, West is taking it too literally and loss of morals as one does becoming consumed with ancient rules, and East is believing in Science as the root of creation with a Max's sculpture inspired by cordyceps and the zombie fungus from the rainforest. The team ended up stealing the show, and getting published in Western Gazette, it was great. Max played one of his favourite songs by Eartha Kitt during our presentation called "I want to be Evil".
